Homeopathy remedies for dogs anxiety

Sharing is caring!

Dogs can experience anxiety for many reasons, such as changes in routine, loud noises, or being left alone. It can be really tough to manage, and it’s not always easy to find the right solution.

Fear in dogs can lead to all sorts of problems, including destructive behavior, excessive barking or whining, and even accidents in the house.

If your dog is struggling with anxiety, it can be extremely hard to manage on a day to day basis. The good news is that there are lots of ways to help calm and manage it, and trying homeopathy remedies for dogs anxiety is a great place to begin.

Homeopathy for dogs with anxiety - dog under a table

Homeopathy is a natural form of medicine that uses very small doses of natural substances found in nature to stimulate the body’s own healing response.

For centuries, it has been used to help with a wide range of problems, both physical and emotional. It’s proven to be one of the safest, most effective ways to treat fear and stress in your dog.

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is derived from two Greek words:

Homoios, which means “similar,” and pathos which means “suffering” or “disease.”

The basic idea behind Homeopathy is “like cures like” or “The principle of similar,” which holds that exceedingly tiny quantities of a certain toxin may cure the same problems as bigger doses. Immunizations are another good example of this. It utilizes small amounts of germs to stimulate the immune system, preventing what greater doses could induce.

It makes more sense to support the body’s natural defenses rather than using medications that suppress symptoms.

Homeopathy has been used to treat humans and pets in a holistic way for over 200 years and is currently practiced in over 80 countries.

ANXIETY IN DOGS

Anxiety can be terribly debilitating for both dog and owner. The condition also comes in different forms, such as separation anxiety, social anxiety, and noise anxiety.

SEPARATION ANXIETY

Separation anxiety is the most common type of anxiety seen in dogs. It occurs when a dog becomes agitated and stressed when they are separated from their guardians.

Separation anxiety can stem from prior traumatic events such as being abandoned or rehomed.

SOCIAL ANXIETY

Although separation anxiety is more prevalent, social anxiety is just as incapacitating for our furry friends. If your dog suffers from social anxiety, chances are they may be afraid of people, other pets, or both.

NOISE ANXIETY

Sudden intense sound can easily create anxiety in an animal. Innocuous things such as fireworks, thunderstorms, construction sounds, or even the sound of a vacuum cleaner can seem truly terrifying to your furry best friend.

SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY IN DOGS

Dogs with anxiety may exhibit any or all of the following symptoms:

  • Excessive barking or howling
  • Panting and pacing
  • Trembling or shaking
  • Drooling
  • Digging
  • Destructive behavior
  • Hiding
  • Eating problems, such as refusing to eat or eating too much
  • Urinating or defecating in the house
  • Excessive licking
  • Avoiding people or other animals

HOMEOPATHY FOR DOGS WITH ANXIETY

Homeopathy is a natural and effective way to handle anxiety and stress in your dog. It can be life-changing, and here’s why:

  • Calm and soothe stress in your dog.
  • Address the underlying cause of stress.
  • Boost the pet’s overall mental and physical health and resilience.

Homeopathic medications are extremely diluted and, therefore, very safe. They’re also very specific, meaning that there are many different types of choosing the correct mixture that is most closely matched to your dog’s individual symptoms. And finally, homeopathic solutions work with the body’s own healing response to help the body heal itself.

HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES

Homeopathy remedies for your dogs anxiety is not a “quick fix.” But will gently and naturally ease your dog’s anxiety symptoms over time and free them from the underlying causes of their stress.

The Homeopathic ingredients work in harmony by correcting internal imbalances in animals. This can, for example, result in a dog with separation anxiety becoming much calmer in temperament due to its natural sedative effect.

Homeopathic remedies

Before starting any course of homeopathic medicine for dogs anxiety, it’s important to consult with a holistic veterinarian at your local veterinary clinic, who can help you choose the best remedy for the individual needs of your dog.

ACONITUM

This has great benefits in helping with fear and restlessness following a frightening event. This remedy may help shy, nervous pups that were not properly habituated to loud sounds or a dog that has had a frightening experience at the kennel or the vet’s office.

ARGENTUM NITRICUM

If your furry friend is restless and excitable, they can benefit greatly from calming effects of Argentum Nitricum. They may also be hypersensitive to intense sound or other environmental stimuli.

NUX VOMICA

Excellent for dogs that are fearful and sensitive to stimuli but who also tend to be dominant and demanding. These animals may be constantly on the go and have a hard time relaxing.

PULSATILLA

This solution is helpful for anxious dogs that are clingy and emotionally dependent, as well as those that have a low pain threshold. They may also whine when anxious.

ACONITE

Dogs that are apprehensive and restless following a traumatic occurrence may benefit from Aconite. This homeopathic remedy may also help with phobias and fears. Aconite can aid in the relaxation of nervous, shy dogs who were not sufficiently accustomed to sudden deafening sounds or those who had a frightening experience at the kennel or the veterinarian’s office.

HOW ARE HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES MADE?

This form of holistic dog care begins with Trituration. Plants and minerals that are to be used as a remedy are ground up into a powder that is fine enough to be soluble in water.

But not just any water, it has to be twice-distilled, which is considered to be the purest form of water. Double distilling erases any “nanostructures or memories in the water.” Physicists who study water commonly report its mysterious and amazing properties. Distilling twice allows the medicinal substances to be imprinted in the water.

The powder is then mixed with double-distilled water and pure alcohol and mixed in a glass jar. The mixture is filtered or expressed through a press to extract the liquid.

The resulting liquid becomes the “mother tincture.”

One drop of the mother tincture is diluted in a mixture of pure alcohol to a ratio of 1:9. This solution is shaken vigorously or even repeatedly struck against a hard surface, called “succussion” to activate its healing properties.

person mixing homeopathic remedies

This solution is diluted again to the same ratio of 1:9. The mixture is again shaken strenuously. This process of dilution and succussion is repeated 10, 20, 30, 100 times, or more.

Simply diluting without shaking doesn’t activate the medicinal effects.

The end result is a Homeopathic remedy that has been “Potentized” or energized.

The process of dilution and succussion is repeated many times because its initial purpose was to remove any potential side effects and toxins it may contain, but it was later discovered that the more times a remedy is succussed, the more potent it becomes, lessening the dose or number of doses are needed.

HOW TO CORRECTLY STORE THEM

These “energized” meds for dogs are super sensitive and require special handling and storage.

Keep away from heat, bright light, electromagnetic radiation from computers, cellphones, and televisions as these could de-activate them.

Keep them away from essential oils, as strong odors in the oil can render them less effective.

However, properly stored mixtures can last for many years, especially those in glass bottles.

Homeopathic tablets should also not be touched directly.

HOW DO I GIVE THEM TO MY DOG?

Typically, a homeopathic remedy is available in various forms, such as pills, powders, or liquid. Administer them directly to your pet via the mouth or add them to your dog’s meal.

Ask your vet if you’re not sure.

WHAT IS THE DOSAGE?

It is advised to administer the remedy an hour before or after your pet dog has had a meal. While Homeopathic dog remedies typically do not cause unpleasant reactions to your pet, they should be given in moderation. They should not be taken while using conventional medicine. If in doubt, visit your veterinary clinic. Your helpful local veterinarian will be happy to give you further advice.

Avoid giving pet remedies with food.

Final Thoughts On Homeopathy remedies for dogs anxiety

Homeopathy is a gentle form of alternative medicine that uses drops of substances that are highly diluted and then administered to patients. This form of medication has throughout history been used to manage or cure a vast variety of health conditions in humans and, more recently, used as a natural pet care solution.

homeopathy and dogs - an image of a smiling English Golden Retriever

Anxiety is no exception. Homeopathy can be used to either free our canine companions from this terrible condition or is useful as a complementary form of therapy. However, dog owners shouldn’t see it as a substitute for training or more advanced behavioral help.

Homeopathy remedies for dogs anxiety problems can come in many different forms, such as pills, powders, or liquid drops. They can be given directly to your dog in the mouth or added to their food or water.

History has proven time and again how popular this naturalistic medicine is with pet owners and how effective it is at keeping our furry friends in the best of health both physically and mentally.

    • Even in extreme dilutions, the water retains a “memory” of the original substance, which can then interact with the body’s vital energy to promote healing. Hope that explanation helps 🙂

  6. Will that work for a cat? As soon as I purchased my home, I will be adopting or buying a dog. Now I know and understand how to take care of my dog, and also I will be experimenting with the Homeopathy products. The author did a great job explaining the product. Simply put; anyone with a dog should at list try the product.

  7. This was so helpful! My poor boy Buster definitely has massive separation anxiety. He also freaks out if we move and is pretty much an all-around emotional pup… And by pup, I mean old man lol. I’m going to have to give this a try. Also, this has inspired me to try out some of the other ways I can homeopathy for him. The vet is so freaking expensive. I mean, they are necessary, but for some things I think this is a way better solution!

  8. Hi, and thank you for a fantastic article about natural remedies aimed at pets! I have a dog myself which is anxious. She has become anxious after sometimes due to one of our son’s misbehavior when he was younger. This caused a lot of loud noise and yelling. Our dog has also been attacked by a bigger dog some years ago and has suffered a bit from that. She is better now, but anxious and we have been looking for something to help her. What you have described in your article might be something that can help her and we will have to try it.

I think the subject is very relevant. Being able to help your dog getting better by using natural remedies is the best for our dogs. And as you write it is vitally important that the homeopathic products are produced in a controlled and quality-based process. to make the product safe.

I have bookmarked your website and will definitively use it as a reference when it comes to my own dogs health and well-being.

  9. I had heard many time about homeopathy before but i never actually knew what this was all about. I guess there are drugs that can do real good to your dog but as you mention in the end we should always ask our vet first and never use similar substances without his approval as there are for sure many fake ones out there in the market which can be hard to distinguish. We need to be extra careful for the sake of our dogs.

  10. Very interesting way to stop using only drugs for your beloved pets. I really don’t like drugs. Humans long ago have homeopathic remedies. Finally, there are solutions for dogs. Maybe they have introduced long ago. But I never heard that there are for pets before.

My dog has Separation anxiety. I think a lot of pets have it. And it is normal. So that why I do not like to drug my pet only because he missed me. However, homeopathic remedies it something like a quality herbal tee for humans where dogs can relax naturally! I will definitely thy homeopathic remedies. Thanks!

  11. Hey Jen, Great article, I believe in homeopathy as a way to heal myself so it’s always the first option I look at when it comes to Arnie as well (My German Shepherd). Sadly he was mistreated when was young by a previous owner, I’ve only had him about a year but he does seem to be showing signs of anxiety. It looks like homeoanimal can help with his anxiety and improve a wide number of areas in terms of his health. I was looking at possibly CBD for pets for him as well, does this work in a similar way?

  12. Hello, Jen Thanks for sharing this post describing homeopathy.I agree with you that homeopathy works with all animals including humans. For example, as for preventing measles, we usually use the MMR vaccine and it is an attenuated live virus vaccine, that is, it contains weakened live viruses.By injecting weakened viruses, make your immune system to have the power of resistance to the virus. There are many ways to prevent diseases, but I think homeopathy is a good way to prevent diseases. The idea behind homeopathy is attracting me. It’s based on the belief that the body can cure itself. That is, let your immune system do everything for preventing diseases. I think it’s better than eating other kind medicines that forcing the viruses to be weakened.Eating these kinds of drugs long enough would make the viruses to have to resist the power of the drugs. So I love homeopathy.

It’s very interesting to discover this fact and good to know just in case.Do you recommend administering one of these remedies for a dog that gets nervous with fireworks? It’s a nightmare whenever it’s the Fourth of July and New Year’s.Thank you very much for writing this up and sharing it with us.

I like that you talk about how homeopathic remedies are made and that they come from natural plants and minerals. Are they becoming a lot more commi

  17. Wow! This is a good product for my dog.

2 months ago, I adopted a dog that was abandoned by its owner. The dog I adopted was very thin, with insect bites on its whole body.
When he got home, he didn’t want to eat, just drink. This lasted about 3 days.
Although, today he has an appetite, but sometimes he still experiences anxiety when I approach him. Even though it’s just for playing.
Maybe homeopathy can be the solution for my case. And this Saturday, I plan to go to my vet to consult about this treatment.
Once again, thank you very much for this great article.
By the way, if my breed is prone to homeopathy, can it still be given ?

  18. We moved together with my girlfriend just recently and she brought her dog.

The dog used to be in the shelter; prior to that, he had been moving from one place to another. His former owner was not able to take care of him so the doggy ended up in the shelter.

Now, based on this great article, I just realized why his behavior is a bit odd these days. I am against any type of chemical drugs, but this thing will work out well in my opinion.

I have just sent a link to this post to my girlfriend.

We both want to thank you 🙂

  20. Well this is the first time I’d be coming across the term homeopathy. The practice of stimulating the body to cure itself . Like you mentioned, it makes more sense to strengthen the body’s defense systems than to suppress symptoms.

But I have to admit, it is a bit surprising that homeopathy can be used to cure anxiety, not to mention anxiety in our four-legged companions.

This post has been really informative, thanks for sharing.

I do not want to give him medication that may harm him, but this Homeopathy seems to be a better alternative that does not have the same side effects. Thank you for sharing, this is perfect!

  23. When I came across this post, I thought “yes, this one is for me”. It’s the exact information I was looking for. One of my dogs had extreme anxiety as a puppy, which was due to traumatic experiences (he was rescued from the street) He is now 3 years old, nearly 3, and he has healed, no more anxiety. I worry though about a possible plane trip we may take this year. He has never travelled by plane and I am terrified that he may get an anxiety attack then. The handlers won’t understand what it is … So, maybe homeopathic treatment as a preventive measure could help? What do you think?

I don’t know the reasons why my dog don’t feel well.I compare my dog’s conditions with your described dog anxiety signs, which match my dog, such as excessive barking, fearful behavior, shaking, and aggression etc. It may be the cause of care by unfamiliar people and places. I wish the conditions will improve after while. But this last for more than 3 weeks now. Meanwhile, I will try to use Zumalka ;. I will let you know the outcome. It is kind of you sharing this useful information with us.

My own dog started exhibiting these traits since we moved to a new apartment and I must say it has been very worse of recent. Thankfully you have explained more on it and I have a clearer understanding of what it entails now. Thanks
